Gears and Such

Sometimes when I’m out on the bike trail, I am moved to slow down and pay attention to what I generally speed by. This is what I hear when I do.

Riding Against the Wind

I knew it was going to be a tough ride within minutes of clipping in. The wind gusts were enormous. The further I rode the harder it got. I wanted to quit. I wanted to turn around and go back. But here’s the thing. Riding against the wind is like climbing hills. It’s hard, but it’s a good training exercise. It’s great for building strength. It makes you stronger. And so, I pressed on. Isn’t that just like life. There are times when we are riding against the wind. It’s hard. It’s discouraging. You just want to quit or turn back. But here’s what I’ve learned. As surely as you are riding against the wind now, there will come a time when the wind will be at your back and you will fly! So don’t quit. Don’t turn back. Keep pedaling. One cycle at a time. Press on. And when the wind is at your back….. FLY !!
